Kudelski Group Launches Tender Offer for Shares of OpenTVAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on October 5, 2009 - 9:59am.
San Francisco
- Shares of interactive TV software firm OpenTV (NASD: OPTV) rose nearly 16% on Monday after
Swiss content protection technology firm Kudelski Group launched a cash tender
offer to acquire the remaining shares of the firm that it doesn't already own.
Kudelski said that it will pay $1.55 a share for the company -- $0.20 higher than it offered for the company last winter -- in a deal that values OpenTV at $215 million. The proposal comes more than two years after Kudelski acquired voting control of the company from Liberty Media in a stock deal then valued at $132.3 million.
