Amsterdam - SellaBand, a Netherlands-based site that helps artists create fan-financed recordings, announced that legendary hip-hop group Public Enemy will use the service to raise funds to record its thirteenth studio album.

Frontman Chuck D said that band aims to raise $250,000 through the service, which will let fans pledge $25 and receive a limited edition version of the CD, as well as a pro ratio share of 33.3% of all net revenues generated by sales of the resulting album.

SellaBand partnered with Chuck D's BTN Eastlink media company in March to launch its North American operations, based in New York City.

"SellaBand's business model takes music to a whole new level by linking fans directly to musicians and leveraging those relationships for the creation of new music," Chuck D said at the time.
