WSJ: Barnes & Noble Developing E-book Reader Device

Authored by Mark Hefflinger on October 9, 2009 - 9:12am.
New York - Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BN) is preparing to release its own e-book reader device, which will sport a 6-inch touch-screen from E-Ink and a virtual keyboard, The Wall Street Journal reported. The device could go on sale as early as next month, sources told The Journal.

In July, Barnes & Noble debuted its own eBookstore, with a catalog of over 700,000 titles; the company acquired e-book software firm Fictionwise in March.

Barnes & Noble will also be the exclusive retailer of the Plastic Logic eReader, slated for release next year.

The e-book reader market has heated up this year, with multiple Kindle releases from Amazon, and the recent addition of new Sony Reader devices.

One of these that doesn't

One of these that doesn't cost $400 would be a big hit, in my book.
