New York
- Thomson Reuters, the international newsgathering agency, announced on Wednesday
that it has made an offer to acquire Breakingviews, a service that provides
business commentary.
Terms of the offer were not disclosed. Founded in 1999, Breakingviews syndicates its columns in 15 publications, including The New York Times and Britain's Telegraph. Reuters established its own international commentary service in 2008; Breakingviews editor-in-chief Hugo Dixon will run the combined team. "We expect the combined talent and editorial strength of the enlarged team to enable us to become the world's premier financial commentary service," said David Schlesinger, Reuters' editor-in-chief.
