Spotify Integrates Direct Song Purchases via 7digitalAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on October 15, 2009 - 10:44am.
Los Angeles - Spotify, the European
ad-supported, free streaming music service preparing for its U.S. launch,
has signed a deal with online retailer 7digital to enable users to purchase
songs heard on the service directly through Spotify.
U.K.-based 7digital recently launched a U.S. storefront, offering albums priced at $7.77 and individual songs for 77 cents. Wired.com reports that the integrated music purchasing feature has been launched on Spotify in France, Sweden, the U.K. and Spain thus far. "We believe this integration will substantially increase the amount of people listening to a song and then purchasing it for playing on their iPod or burning to CD," 7digital CEO Ben Drury told Wired.com.
