Sometrics Closes Second Round for Virtual Currency ServiceAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on October 16, 2009 - 7:41am.
Los Angeles
- Sometrics, a provider of Web payment and advertising services for online game
developers, announced on Friday that it has raised an undisclosed amount of
second round funding, led by Steamboat Ventures.
Greycroft Partners and the Mail Room Fund -- a consortium that includes William Morris Agency, Accel and Venrock -- also participated. Los Angeles-based Sometrics launched its virtual currency platform in December 2008, which helps game publishers manage virtual currency monetization from multiple offer providers. The company says its offering helps customers "see what's going on across all offers and networks, see which audience demographics are responding to which offers, and direct traffic accordingly to optimize conversions and increase revenue." Sometrics will use the funds for strategic hires and to expand its marketing efforts.
