MySpace Adds Music Video Portal, iTunes Links, Artist DashboardAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on October 22, 2009 - 10:41am.
Los Angeles
- News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) MySpace on Thursday announced the launch of a number of new music-related
features, including a music video portal, integrated purchase links to iTunes, and
an analytics tool for artists and labels using the site to promote their
recordings.
MySpace Music Videos will feature music video recommendations, based on what friends are watching, and "skinned" players featuring an artist's entire music video catalog in one place. The MySpace Artist Dashboard, currently in beta, is a free service that will provide artists and labels with unlimited access to charts, graphs and other data, including fan geography, song plays and profile views. "Whether you're a small town garage band, an emerging indie, or a well-established act, our ultimate goal is to provide the right mix of tools and real time data to help you gain a deep understanding of who your fans are and how best to reach them," said Courtney Holt, president of MySpace Music. The company also added links to purchase songs on Apple's iTunes Store; previously, users had been directed to Amazon for songs and Jamster for ringtones.
