San Jose, Calif. - One month after launching its tender offer for Utah-based Omniture, Adobe Systems (NASD: ADBE), the developer of popular Web publishing software, said on Friday that it has completed the deal, paying about $1.46 billion for an 87% stake in the developer of online business optimization software.

Adobe paid $21.50 a share for 68.1 million shares, and has received commitments to purchase another 3 million.

The company planned to complete its acquisition through a merger on Friday. Omniture will become a unit of Adobe, adding technology designed to let clients create and more effectively monetize their content and applications online.

Omniture's more than 5,000 customers include eBay, AOL, Wal-Mart, Gannett, Microsoft, Neiman Marcus, Oracle, Sony and HP.
