Kirkland, Wash. - Clearwire, Comcast (NASD: CMCSA) and Sprint (NYSE: S) on Friday announced plans to launch their respective 4G mobile Internet services in 11 new cities by year's end.

Each of the companies will offer the high-speed wireless services -- connected to Clearwire's mobile WiMax network -- under their own brands.

All three companies plans to launch service in Philadelphia in the next several weeks, with Chicago and Seattle/Tacoma following shortly thereafter.

Clearwire and Sprint also plan to launch in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, N.C. and Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio, Texas in November.

The high-speed service is the result of a network merger last winter between Clearwire and Sprint Nextel.

The resulting $14.6 billion company, which retained the name Clearwire, is now deploying the first nationwide mobile WiMax network, which promises wireless speeds comparable to those of broadband.
