StatusNet Gets $875K for Open-Source Microblogging

StatusNet, the developer of an open-source microblogging service called
identi.ca, has raised $875,000 in seed funding, TechCrunch reports.
Investors
included Montreal Startup, iNovia Capital, Xavier Niel and Fotolia co-founder
Oleg Tscheltzoff.
Montreal-based StatusNet offers a microblogging platform that
any company or individual can add to their own online presence; around 2,000
sites are currently offering the feature, counting a combined 200,000 to
300,000 active users.
The company's team includes former Wikipedia CTO Brion
Vibber, as well as former Creative Commons community manager Jon Phillips.
