MPower Mobile Raising $5 Million for Mobile Payments

Austin, Texas - MPower Mobile, a provider of mobile payments technology is closing on a $5 million, second round of funding led by Maples Investments.

Tivoli Systems co-founder Todd Smith is also participating in the round.

Founded in 2005 as Sapphire Mobile Systems, Austin-based MPower's mobile payments technology is currently employed in markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America.

The company will use the funds to expand into new markets, and for continued technology development.
