Reston, Va. - Boosting its presence in the fast-growing Latin American market, comScore (NASD: SCOR), a provider of Internet audience measurement services, said it will acquire Chilean Web measurement firm Certifica.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Separately, the company said that it plans to cut 8% of its workforce -- around 46 jobs -- as its shifts resources to better support its Media Metrix 360 business.

Despite the cuts, however, CEO Magid Abraham said the company simultaneously plans to make "selective new hires in areas that hold high potential for us."

Reston, Va.-based comScore said that the acquisition positions it for further expansion Latin America, which has seen rapid growth in its Internet penetration.

The company said that it plans to sell a full suite of products in the region.

Alejandro Fosk, the founder and CEO of nine-year-old Certifica, will become the senior vice president of comScore Latin America.
