Report: Apple Pitching Networks $30 iTunes TV SubscriptionsAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on November 2, 2009 - 7:59am.
New York
- Apple (NASD: AAPL) has been pitching TV networks a plan to offer an iTunes-based TV
subscription service that would cost about $30 a month, All Things D reported,
citing multiple unnamed sources.
Apple is keen to launch such a service early next year, but has not received firm commitments from networks, the report said. Disney (NYSE: DIS), which owns networks including ABC and ESPN, is said to be a potential first partner. The company was first to sign on to sell programming on iTunes, and Apple CEO Steve Jobs is Disney's largest single shareholder.
