Report: Apple Pitching Networks $30 iTunes TV Subscriptions

New York - Apple (NASD: AAPL) has been pitching TV networks a plan to offer an iTunes-based TV subscription service that would cost about $30 a month, All Things D reported, citing multiple unnamed sources.

Apple is keen to launch such a service early next year, but has not received firm commitments from networks, the report said.

Disney (NYSE: DIS), which owns networks including ABC and ESPN, is said to be a potential first partner.

The company was first to sign on to sell programming on iTunes, and Apple CEO Steve Jobs is Disney's largest single shareholder.

This will be the death to Cable television. I'll cancel my Comca*t subscription tomorrow if I could get the same channels from itunes with an updated AppleTV. The local channels are in HD for free already. Cable is a 20th century idea just like the 15 mpg SUV. For great free original iphone wallpapers please visit; www.useaswallpaper.com
