Social Games Maker Zynga Acquires Virtual Pets Firm GoPets

San Francisco - Zynga, a developer of social media games, has acquired virtual pets firm GoPets for an undisclosed sum, Virtual Goods News reported, citing a Facebook post from GoPets founder Erick Bethke.

Seoul, Korea-based GoPets was founded in 2004, and offers a desktop-based application where users care for customized, 3D virtual pets.

San Francisco-based Zynga, whose game titles include "Mafia Wars" on Facebook, also recently acquired virtual world firm MyMiniLife.
