San Francisco - Blinkx, the provider of a searchable index
of Web videos, announced on Tuesday that will raise $8.1 million through an
offering of shares representing 10% of the company.
The San Francisco-based company is listed on the London exchange. Blinkx said that $150 million has been spent on research and development of its search index over the past 12 years. The service performs over 17.4 million searches daily, and is partnered with over 650 media companies to provide video content for its index. Blinkx reported revenues for the first half of its fiscal year, through Sept. 30, were up 106% to $13.1 million.
