Washington
- In an unexpected development, The Washington Times on Monday fired Thomas
McDevitt, its president and publisher, as well as CFO Keith Cooperrider and
Chairman Dong Moon Joo.
Politico also reported that the conservative paper's top editor, John Solomon, may be on the verge of resigning, and is "in his cabin in western Virginia considering his options." The company has named vice president Jonathan Slevin, former managing editor of the New York City Tribune, as its acting president and publisher. The Times said that the moves are aimed at helping make it into a "financially sustainable media enterprise." The company has hired Tatum executive services as an advisor. The Washington Times was launched in 1982 by Rev. Sun Myung Moon, and is subsidized by businesses related to Moon's Unification Church.
