Report: Motorola Droid Sold 100,000 Over Launch Weekend

- Motorola (NYSE: MOT) sold an estimated 100,000 of its new Droid smartphones over the
weekend, Broadpoint AmTech analyst Mark McKechnie told Bloomberg.
Carrier partner Verizon (NYSE: VZ) had
200,000 handsets in stock for the Droid launch on Nov. 6, and most stores had
sold at least half of their supply, McKechnie told Bloomberg.
By comparison,
Apple's 3GS sold over 1 million units during its weekend launch in June.
The Google
Android-based Droid is currently selling for $199 with a $100 rebate and two-year
contract.
