Apple to Launch iPhone in South Korea This WeekAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on November 23, 2009 - 10:16am.
Seoul, South Korea - Apple (NASD: AAPL) will launch the iPhone in South
Korea later this week with local carrier KT Corp, which is already accepting
pre-orders for the smartphone, the Associated Press reported.
The device will officially launch in South Korea on Nov. 28 with KT, the country's second-largest carrier. AP notes that the Korea Communications Commission only just last week approved a license for Apple to offer location-based services in the country -- such as mapping and social networking features provided by the iPhone. The iPhone is now available in 86 countries and territories, including China, where China Unicom began selling the device last month. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Apple is still also in talks to offer the iPhone in China with carrier China Mobile.
