Campbell, Calif. – BookRenter.com, an online textbook rental site, said that it has raised $6 million in its first round of funding from Storm Ventures and Adams Capital Management.

The year-old company said that it will use the proceeds to further extend its reach in the fast-growing market, which also includes Chegg.com.

Campbell, Calif.-based BookRenter’s service allows students to rent textbooks for up to 75% off the retail price, and have new or like-new books delivered to their door.

Students then return their books at no additional cost at the end of the rental period.

The company said that it currently serves students at more than 5,000 U.S. campuses.
