Yahoo Adds Tighter Facebook Integration
/ December 2, 2009 1:57 pm

Sunnyvale, Calif. – Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) on Wednesday announced that it has further extended integration with the Facebook online social network, enabling users to connect with Facebook friends on Yahoo, and share content between the two services.

Facebook Connect will now integrate more tightly with Yahoo’s Mail, News, Sports and Finance sections.

Users can also now more easily share photos from Yahoo’s Flickr, or comments on news stores, with their Facebook friends.

The company noted that Yahoo content shared with friends on Facebook "will then create a loop that drives visitors back to Yahoo."

Jim Stoneham, Yahoo’s vice president of communities, said that the integration "enables us to further the Yahoo Open Strategy, which is aimed at making experiences dramatically more open, social and personally relevant for the more than 500 million people that visit Yahoo each month."

The integration is expected to begin in the first half of 2010.
