Austin, Texas - Gowalla, a location-based social
networking service, announced on Wednesday that it has raised $8.4 million in
its second round of venture capital financing, led by Greylock Partners.
Founded in 2007, Austin-based Gowalla launched its service 10 weeks ago and currently counts 50,000 users. The service, which is available for the iPhone and Android platforms, lets users share their travels, both locally and to far-flung locales, and add entries for new locations and businesses. The company will use the new funds to enhance its development capability and strengthen growth efforts.
