Guvera Signs EMI, IODA to Ad-Supported Download ServiceAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on December 9, 2009 - 11:39am.
New York - Guvera, an Australia-based, advertiser-supported music
search and download service expected to launch in the U.S. in February, announced
on Wednesday that it has signed licensing deals with major label EMI Music and
independent digital music distributor IODA.
The company previously announced a licensing deal with Universal Music Group. Founded in 2008, Guvera offers free music downloads, and lets advertisers crate branded channels, "housing relevant styles of music and other digital content and showcasing the particular aspects of a brand's personality." Brands pay a fee when their targeted consumers download music, and labels and artists in turn receive a percentage of that fee. Brands will be able to determine how much content can be downloaded per person, and their total campaign spend, and "even print live data about consumer profiles and behavior to better understand their target customers."
