- Widevine, a provider of forensic watermarking technologies and other digital
rights management (DRM) services for content owners, announced on Monday that
it has raised $15 million in new funding.
Investors included Samsung Ventures, Liberty Global and a third, undisclosed corporation. Seattle-based Widevine currently provides content protection to a number of Internet movie services, including Sonic's CinemaNow. The company says its technology "plays a central role" in the "TV Everywhere" strategies of cable, satellite and phone companies.
