Los Angeles - The most-downloaded movie of 2009 on
BitTorrent file-sharing networks was "Star Trek," which racked up
over 10.9 million downloads, according to a list compiled by TorrentFreak from
BitTorrent trackers and other sources. In second place was "Transformers:
Revenge of the Fallen" (10.6 million), followed by "RocknRolla"
(9.4 million); "The Hangover" (9.2 million); "Twilight"
(8.7 million); "District 9" (8.3 million); "Harry Potter and the
Half-Blood Prince" (7.2 million); "State of Play" (7.4 million);
"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" (7.2 million); and "Knowing"
(6.9 million).TorrentFreak noted that titles such as "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" and "2012" -- which ranked in the top five in box office take -- were absent from the top downloads list. Meanwhile, "RocknRolla," which ranked 168th in box office, likely was as popular of a download as it was because it was posted online by "aXXo," a noted uploader in file-sharing circles.
