Los Angeles
– News Corp.’s (NYSE: NWS) MySpace online social network has launched a new Events and
ticketing platform.

A new Events tab on the MySpace home page will include
features like a Calendar that integrates a user’s own events, friends’ events,
evens like tour dates from artists they follow, Facebook events, and sponsored
events from advertisers.

The music-related elements of Events will borrow from
its iLike subsidiary, allowing users to see which other users plan to attend
particular concerts.

Unlike previously, artists will be now able to sell concert
tickets directly from their profile pages.

MySpace director of events and
ticketing Marcus Womack told Billboard the Events platform was designed with
event promotion and ticketing equally in mind.
