Washington, DC — Twitter, the popular microblogging service increasingly used by politicians and Beltway insiders, has hired former Senate staffer Adam Sharp as its first DC-based employee. Sharp, most recently the executive producer of digital services at C-SPAN and formerly the deputy chief of staff to Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), will act as a liaison between the company and the federal government. In a tweet announcing the news, Sharp wrote, "Will be @Twitter’s 1st DC staff, but join 300+ strong team committed to improving govt, political debate. Start 11/29." TechCrunch reported that Sharp’s official title will be manager of government and political partnerships. Facebook also opened an office in DC last year.
