Washington, DC — Jim Brady, the former executive editor of
washingtonpost.com, has resigned as the general manager of TBD,
Allbritton Communications’ DC-area local news site, according to an
internal memo published by MediaBistro. The move comes as Allbritton
head Robert Allbritton has decided to make investments to expand the
publication’s journalistic resources. "As we talked about the next
phase of our growth, it seemed clear to Jim and I both that we had
some stylistic differences," wrote Robert Allbritton, the company’s
chairman and CEO. "So with mutual respect — and in my case a lot of
appreciation for the work he has done across the company for the past
year — we decided to shake hands and go in different directions."
Allbritton, which had initially focused on aggregating outside content
to supplement TBD’s original reporting, said the outlet’s long-term
viability ultimately will hinge on its "original content."
