Washington – First Lady Michelle Obama said on Wednesday
that daughters Sasha and Malia are not on Facebook, partly because of White
House security measures and partly because she personally feels the social
network isn’t appropriate for young children.

"I think we’re lucky that
there are a lot of real constraints, things like Secret Service and stuff like
that," Obama told Matt Lauer, host of NBC’s Today show.

"I’m not a
big fan of young kids having Facebook. It’s not something they need, it’s not
necessary right now."

Obama said she wouldn’t be opposed to Sasha, age 9,
and Malia, 12, joining Facebook when the family eventually departs the White
House.
