Mountain View, Calif. — Google is giving Facebook a run for its money, especially by offering cheaper fees for social game developers, AllThingsD reported Thursday.

Called the “Google+ Code,” the gaming platform will not only give developers another outlet to share their creative social games, but unlilke Facebook, Google will also host games on its own servers to reduce latency and increase reliability.

Another, perhaps more tantalizing appeal would be Google’s platform potentially offering developers viable alternative to Facebook, especially considering the document Zynga released earlier this week outlining its “complicated” relationship with the social network giant.

Multiple sources tell AllThingsD that Google will take less than a 30 percent cut of the revenues, undercutting both Apple and Facebook’s industry standard.

Additionally, Google’s newly launched In-App Payments make it possible for web developers to handle financial transaction through Google’s platform. The company has said it will only be charging a 5 percent fee for its service.

Although a Google spokesman declined to comment on the rumors, a spokesperson issued this statement: “It’s important to keep in mind this is an ongoing project and this is just the beginning. We plan to add a lot of features and functionality to Google+ over time. We’re just excited to get started.”

Glimpses of Google+ Code were briefly posted, as shown in VentureBeat‘s screen grabs.
