Mountain View, Calif. – Pixazza, the Mountain View-based developer of a platform designed to make images interactive on the web, said on Wednesday it has changed its name to Luminate Inc.

The company, which was founded in 2008, said the change comes on the heels of a partnership with Hearst Digital Media, which allows site visitors to see information and make purchases from online images displayed alongside editorial content.

Luminate is backed by August Capital, CMEA Capital, Google Ventures and Shasta Ventures.
