Facebook has acquired Push Pop Press, the interactive book publisher best known for Al Gore’s Our Choice, which was released earlier this year in partnership with Melcher Media.

Push Pop derailed some of the inevitable speculation about the deal’s implications by explaining it on the company blog. “Although Facebook isn’t planning to start publishing digital books, the ideas and technology behind Push Pop Press will be integrated with Facebook, giving people even richer ways to share their stories,” co-founders Mike Matas and Kimon Tsinteris said.

Our Choice (pictured) will remain available for purchase, but Push Pop announced it will donate all future profits from it to The Climate Reality Project.

There will be no further titles using the company’s beta publishing platform. Other projects may benefit from it, however, since Facebook gets that technology along with the people who created it.
