San Francisco – BlueSprig, a San Francisco-based developer of technology designed to protect mobile devices, said on Thursday it has raised $10 million in its first round of funding from IDG-Accel’s China Growth Fund.

The company, which has offices in China as well, also introduced a series of lightweight utility apps designed to boost the security, privacy, performance and efficiency of iOS and Android devices.

“Our goal is to put the ‘personal’ back in personal computing by giving users the tools to make their digital lives simpler, faster and safer,” said chief executive officer and co-founder Jason Johnson, the managing partner at Founders Den and co-founder of Rethink Books.

The company’s AirCover tool scans downloaded apps for malware and spyware, provides remote data backup in the cloud, optimizes battery life, cleans and boosts device performance, helps locate devices and also includes GPS tracking, communication and notification tools. BlueSprig also is releasing full versions of its system utility tools, JetBoost and JetClean, which were launched in beta earlier this year.
