Waltham, Mass. – Pyxis Mobile, a Waltham-based provider of technology that helps businesses build and manage mobile apps, has raised $17 million in a round of venture capital, and changed its name to Verivo Software.

The investment was led by Commonwealth Capital Ventures, with participation from Pyxis Mobile’s existing investors, including Ascent Venture Partners and Egan-Managed Capital.

Founded in 1998, Verivo has a customer list of hundreds of companies in numerous industries.

In 2011, the company reported an increase in license bookings of 220 percent and revenue run rate of 50 percent. Its employee headcount grew 50 percent and customer base increased by 170 percent, according to Verivo.
