Get ready to lose even more time to Fruit Ninja, now that its developer Halfbrick Studos has purchased Onan Games, a company whose technology can move games from one platform to another. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Halfbrick is an independent studio best known for the mobile titles Jetpack Joyride, Monster Dash and Age of Zombies, in addition to the ubiquitous Fruit Ninja. The produce-slashing ninjatō are also available on Xbox Live Arcade as Fruit Ninja Kinect.

Onan Games’ porting middleware, named Mandreel, allows games created in one C++ code base to support iOS, Android, Flash and HTML5 without the time and cost of redevelopment. Watch for Fruit Ninja and other Halfbrick titles to appear on Facebook and browsers soon.

“Onan has created something that is incredibly powerful in such a fast-paced industry,” said Halfbrick CEO Shainiel Deo. “It’s our goal to maximize reach and bring our games to new fans, and we welcome Onan into the Halfbrick family know that they will help us achieve exactly that.”

Halfbrick also intends to license Mandreel technology to its extended client base in the near future.

“We want to see our technology used by the best and most creative developers, and Halfbrick is undoubtedly one of the top studios in the world,” said Miguel Pastor, Onan Games CEO. “We can’t wait to see what awesome new ideas and projects will arise in the coming months.”
