Photo editing platform Aviary revealed it has closed a $6 million round of funding from Spark Capital, Jeff Bezos’ personal investment fund Bezos Expeditions, and strategic investors the company said it didn’t want to announce just yet.

Aviary said the additional capital will be used to support new partnerships, add employees, and to “cement the company as the industry standard photo-editing API.” It already has about 1,200 partner apps including Flickr, MailChimp, Shopify, Box, TwitPic and Halftone.

To give a further sense of its popularity, Aviary said it has eight million regular users and has been used to edit more than 100 million photos just in the past 30 days.

“Aviary’s growth over the past year has been nothing short of remarkable,” said Mo Koyfman, general partner of Spark Capital. “As the mobile photo category continues to explode, Aviary is poised to become the photo editing and creativity solution of choice for developers looking to deliver best of breed photo experiences to their consumers.”
