Boston – DraftKings, an online fantasy sports startup based in Boston, on Friday announced that it has closed a seed capital round of $1.4 million, which was led by Atlas Venture, with participation from Boston Seed Capital, Hub Angels, Angel Street Capital, and private angel investors.

DraftKings features daily fantasy sports play and same-day settlement of cash prizes.

Currently offering daily fantasy sports play options in major league baseball, DraftKings said it will use the capital raised to fund marketing and product development for the 2012 football, basketball, and hockey seasons.

As a U.S. skill-based games company, DraftKings is legal but does not permit residents of Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana and Vermont to participate due to regulations in those states.
