Danny Trejo personally curates MyMag publication
/ August 10, 2012 9:40 am

Actor Danny Trejo is the latest celebrity to partner with interactive media platform MyMag, which enables well-known personalities to personally curate a digital and print magazine.

Previous MyMag partners include Sean Combs, Brett Ratner, Olivia Munn, Deepak Chopra, Steve Aoki and Andrea Rosso.

Each MyMag is free in digital format or $12 for a glossy print version. It contains content the subject has created, mixed with articles from other publications and advertising from sponsors he or she has approved.

The Trejo MyMag, for instance, includes background about him, an article from Empire magazine about Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, a story and photos from Inked tattoo magazine, and evidence of the actor’s appreciation for music by guitarist Slash, among other content. Trejo’s own story is a fascinating one: the Los Angeles native spent his young adult years as drug-addicted prison inmate, an unpromising beginning that he overcame to become a successful actor and advocate for drug rehabilitation and counseling programs.

The print version of Trejo is being distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and digitally via Zinio.

He is currently in production as the title character in Robert Rodriguez’ Machete Kills, the follow-up to the cult hit Machete, in which Trejo teams up with the U.S .government to take down a dangerous and deranged arms dealer played by Mel Gibson. The movie will also star Michelle Rodriguez, Charlie Sheen, Cuba Gooding Jr., Edward James Olmos, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara, William Sadler,  Demian Bichir and Lady Gaga.
