Real-money gaming exec Maytal Ginzburg joins Zynga

Real-money social games have come a giant step closer to reality, with the news that Maytal Ginzburg is joining Zynga as the company’s chief operating officer in charge of new markets.

She brings with her considerable experience in online gambling, having most recently been senior vice president of regulated markets at 888 Holdings. That company operates 888.com, an online portal that enables consumers to wager real money on activities like poker, bingo and sports betting, activities that it makes available to adults in countries where it is legal.

Social Casino Intelligence was the first to report the news. It follows remarks from Zynga chief executive Mark Pincus stating that “real-money gambling to build on our strong casino presence” represented a growth opportunity for the company.
