M-Go signs up DreamWorks Animation and Relativity
/ October 3, 2012 7:35 am

M-Go has added DreamWorks Animation SKG and Relativity Media to the studios that will offer movies for sale or rental on the digital movie service, which is set to go live by the end of the year.

Among the movies that will become available on M-Go are following these new content licensing deals are DreamWorks’ Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda (pictured) and How to Train Your Dragon, as well as Relativity’s The Raven, Mirror Mirror and Act of Valor.

John Batter, CEO of M-Go, said more content agreements will be announced before the service launches, including day-and-date new movies as well as deep catalog titles.

The service is designed to span multiple devices and to be compatible with the UltraViolet cloud platform, and M-Go apps will come preloaded on Samsung and Vizio TVs, Blu-ray players and tablets as well as on Intel Ultrabooks.

It’s interesting to note M-Go is a joint venture between Technicolor and DreamWorks Animation, yet deals with the big five studios were announced before the one with one of M-Go’s corporate parents. That could have been a marketing decision, however, so that M-Go go public having deals already in place with NBCUniversal, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.

The two studios involved in the newly announced deals issued statements of support for M-Go and the opportunity it provides.

“Relativity is always looking to expand our presence in the digital space and we are pleased to have forged a new partnership in the transactional business with M-Go,” said David Spiegelman, president, Domestic Television & Digital Distribution at Relativity Media.

“As a new service that gives consumers a seamless way to locate and view their favorite movies, TV shows, and other digital media anywhere and on any device, M-Go is unparalleled,” said DreamWorks Animation chief operating officer Ann Daly. “We look forward to making DreamWorks Animation’s premium content available on their platform for more consumers to access.”
