Miso launches Quips, TV clips meant to be shared

Social TV platform Miso has launched Quips, a new iPhone app that lets users choose a show’s particular scene, add their own captions, and share them on their social feeds.

Rather than have users capture their own clips, Quips offers a library of popular clips from which users can select or browse through to find their favorites. The catalog is drawn from more than 500 shows.

Quips is the latest product from Miso, which has raised a total of $6 million in funding from investors including Khosla Ventures, Google Ventures and Hearst Interactive Media. Founded in 2010, Miso is headquartered in San Francisco.

  • Interesting to hear what Miso is up to. Second screen apps have a lot of potential, and these guys are doing the right thing by testing out several different angles to get viewers engaged. The nut hasn’t been cracked yet, but this is how you crack it.
