Washington, DC – Reuters reported on Friday that employees of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission “failed to encrypt some of their computers containing highly sensitive information from stock exchanges, leaving the data vulnerable to cyber attacks.”
The article noted that there was no evidence that the computers were actually compromised by hackers.
Reuters reported that the full scope of the issue will be outlined in a report by Jon Rymer, the SEC’s interim inspector general.
