Playrific closes $1.7m round for kid-safe content discovery

Boston – Playrific, a Boston-based digital media aggregation service for children, announced on Tuesday it has closed an oversubscribed $1.7 million round of equity financing, which was led by Golden Seeds, a network of angel investors.

Playrific is designed to make it simple to provide pre- and elementary-school aged children with digital content that reflects their likes and interests.

Its free web app can be accessed from any web-enabled device and is also offered as an iOS app via the App Store. The company said it expects to release its Android app commercially soon.

Other investors in the company include Launchpad Venture Group, Walnut Ventures, Northeast Angels and Maine Angels.
