Stevie closes $1.5m for its social aggregation TV-style shows
/ December 19, 2012 12:29 pm

Stevie, a service that creates a television-style program using social media streams, has closed a $1.5 million Series A funding round from Horizons Ventures. This brings the startup’s total funding to $2.1 million.

The company also said it was adding an iPhone app to its existing iPad and Windows 8 apps. There’s also a web version. The new funding will go toward making Stevie compatible with Xbox, Android and connected TVs in addition to continued product development.

For everyone who ever thought their home or office would make a good TV show, Stevie blends each user’s Facebook and Twitter content along with other “popular material from around the web” that it determines that viewer would like. The platform then presents this content as a lean-back TV experience, in a selection of customized channels like Fresh Picks, The Comedy Strip, Music Non Stop, and Celeb TV.

Yael Givon, CEO and co-founder at Stevie, said Stevie is “continuously working on bridging the gap we see between social content and the broadcast experience” to provide the “definitive social, personal TV experience.”
