Aereo, the New York-based provider of technology for streaming broadcast television shows on the Internet, has raised $38 million in its second round of venture capital, led by IAC and Highland Capital. Launching its service last February, Aereo allows subscribers to view live or time-shifted streams of over-the-air television on the Internet. Aereo’s software can be installed on a PC or Mac using a compatible browser, and iOS devices including the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Apple TV. Last year the company was sued for copyright infringement by a group of major broadcasters, including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and Universal.
