Bluefin Labs, a developer of technology for analyzing social media content, has been acquired by Twitter, according to published reports. Terms of the deal were not reported. Bluefin was founded at the MIT Media Lab in 2008. Its technology analyzes online conversations among consumers about TV shows and commercials — information that is used by brand name companies and content producers. The company’s investors include the National Science Foundation, Time Warner Investments, Redpoint Ventures, Lerer Ventures, Kepha Partners, and SoftBank Capital.
