The Verge: Samsung Invest $112 Million in Sharp

The Verge reports that Samsung Electronics has just invested 10.4 billion yen (about $111.6 million) in Sharp Corp, giving Samsung a 3% stake in Sharp. The deal allows Samsung to access Sharp’s LCD supply mainly its 32-inch television screens, and Sharp will utilize the funds to grow and enhance its TV and Smartphone panel production. Jeff Kang, an analyst at Daishin Securities in Seoul said, “An investment by Samsung will also prevent Apple from having exclusive access to Sharp.”  Read more
