Sony’s Gracenote to Power Music Matching Service for Xbox Music

xboxmusicVentureBeat reports that Sony’s digital music division is partnering with Microsoft to provide music recognition, metadata, and other features for Xbox Music. The music service from Microsoft is currently available on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Windows 8, Windows RT tablets, PCs, iOS devices, Android phones, and Windows 8 smartphones. The new Gracenote powered feature will be available to users who purchase Xbox Music Pass. Users can now identify music albums and tracks on their devices, unlock them in the cloud and stream them over several devices. “Gracenote music recognition and data will make it easy for Xbox Music users to migrate their collections to the cloud without searching, repurchasing, or even uploading,” said Stephen White, President of Gracenote.
