Boomlagoon Game Studio Raises $3.6 Million

boomlagoonVentureBeat reports that Boomlagoon, a Finnish game studio created by former Angry Birds developers has raised $3.6 million. The funding comes from European investors Inventure, Northzone, and 360 Capital Partners and angel investors including Jari Ovaskainen and London Venture Partners. Helsinki-based Boomlagoon is one in a sequence of Finnish game startups that have effectively raised money in the wake of big successes like Rovio (maker of Angry Birds) and Supercell (creator of Clash of Clans). The company will use the funding amount to develop its team and continue to create character-driven casual mobile games. “We have been very impressed by the Boomlagoon team, and believe they have a unique understanding of how to drive casual mobile games to broad markets,” said Torleif Ahlsand, General Partner in Northzone.
