Baltimore Sun Media Group to Acquire Baltimore’s City Paper

In its first acquisition since 1995, The Baltimore Sun Media Group said on Thursday it will acquire The City Paper, a Baltimore-based alternative weekly, for an unspecified sum. The deal is expected to close in March. The 37-year-old City Paper maintains a print circulation of approximately 50,000 a week, and draws about 200,000 unique visitors to its web and mobile sites each month. In a marriage of the nation's two largest cable operators, Comcast said on Thursday it will acquire rival Time Warner Cable in an all-stock deal valued at $45.2 billion. TechCrunch reports that Yahoo has purchased the New York-based startup Wander. The Tech Stars company (2012), which previously focused on sharing travel experiences in the form of a diary, shifted its focus to an app called Days, which allows users to come up with different sequences of gifts and photographs in a package called a “Day,” that can be uploaded and shared the next day. DigitalMusicNews reports that BMG will acquire 100% of music publisher Talpa Music. According to the report, BMG and Talpa Music Holding have signed the deal, which is expected to close later this month.
